Alex Becerra, an artist from Los Angeles, explores his vision of the modern world through painting, drawing and sculpture.
Becerra is a professional in the use of oil paint, which he employs by applying thick, broad layers, thus providing texture and movement to his work.
Influenced by the history of modern European painting, especially German Neo-Expressionism, Becerra incorporates into his work all the classics of painting, such as the female nude, or the self-portrait, to which he often adds touches of the everyday, such as the presence of a beer bottle, a pair of heels or car tyres.
Becerra's work harbours all sorts of symbols of great personal significance, through which he references his adolescence in Southern California, and his subsequent entry into the international art world. The result is a highly referential work, with a unique aesthetic and unparalleled vitality.
