Dog Days is the first solo show by Megan Hales at the gallery. Her paintings highlight the absurdities of everyday life, blending urban situations with elements of organic life. Her works are rooted in autobiographical experiences and often employ trompe l’oeil or cinematic devices to create a dramatic effect. Hales’ hyperrealist approach borders on the surreal. Beneath flawless surfaces and meticulous brushwork, she combines traditional oil-paint layering techniques with a variety of methods acquired during years of working as a sign painter.
