We are very pleased to announce the opening of ‘Twelve Living Rooms’ at Art No Bounds, an institutional show by Maciej Kość (Poland, 2001). The exhibition will be on view from the 16th of May until the 3rd of July in Hangzhou, China.
The show features a series of large-format works emerging from the intersections of art, design, and heritage. Engaged with reproduction, these ambitious works see Kość address the Chinese Zodiac from an international perspective, reaffirming its significance in both Chinese and global culture. Kość depicts elaborate assemblage sculptures resembling animals, constructed from hunting trophies, Baroque taxidermy, and components of contemporary furniture dating from the 1960s to the present. Hyperrealistic textures exist in tense relation to abstract structures; like diagrams or exploded renderings, they assert their real, surreal, or hyperreal origins.
