Javier Ruiz

Biography

The work of Javier Ruiz (La Carolina, Jaén, 1989) is characterized by its theatrical effect; it seeks to capture the impact of the “curtain rising.” His paintings, with their distinctive impasto texture, create a romantic atmosphere and focus on a seemingly tranquil landscape, with frequent nods to Andalusian culture. In this setting, various characters come to life, drawing us closer to the instincts, passions, miseries, and everything else that surrounds human existence.

Trained in Madrid and Los Angeles, his work has been exhibited in Spain, Australia, South Korea, Panama, the Netherlands, and the United States. Additionally, his work is part of important collections such as those of the Voorlinden Museum in the Netherlands, The Green Family Foundation in the United States, and Roux Contemporary Art in Panama.
