Santiago Ydáñez : Villa de Livia
Past exhibition
Overview
In 2018, during his stay at the Academy of Spain in Rome, Santiago Ydáñez took on the challenge of performing an interpretation of the frescoes in the hypogeal room of Villa de Livia, an excellent example of Roman garden painting. Discovered in 1863, in the Villa di Livia in Prima Porta, the frescoes, now restored and located in Palazzo Massimo, are one of the most evocative mural painting representations of Roman times. A garden painted for the adolescent Livia, whom the artist reflected in his interpretation as if this new garden were his dream.
