Juan de Morenilla: Fairy tales
Past exhibition
Overview
Morenilla’s work focuses on the creation of an alternative world arising from the idea of the “absurd”. This is understood as a gesture that despises velocity, that opposes profitability and the utilitarianism of efficiency and productivity models. His work is a space where the logic of a vital line is broken and he confronts the imbalance of the sensible. His paintings also treat the figure of the artist, as an example of approach and acceptance of failure, and humour or play, which serve as a shield against the misfortunes caused by that failure.
Juan de Dios Morenilla lives and works in Valencia. He has a degree in Fine Arts and a Master’s in Artistic Production from the Universitat Politècnica of Valencia. His work has been selected in the Pam!Pam!18 Program and in the first call for proposals ESPOSITIVO 7B. Morenilla has participated in various meetings, activities and projects abroad, including WOA, held in Lapua, Finland in 2008, and Voces Rizoma, an art and education program in collaboration with the Three Cultures Foundation in Tetouan, Fez and Rabat, Morocco, developed in 2016.
